Tips for Fun and Easy Karaoke

Karaoke is fun! It is not to prove who is the better singer. Karaoke was designed in Japan to relieve stress ... not cause it! So relax enjoy your time in the spotlight and enjoy other's as they have their moment.

Here are some tips to make Karaoke more enjoyable to everyone:

     1. Don't be in such a hurry. Asking the show host when you are up again every five minutes is not going to get you anywhere any faster. Remember that you are not the only singer in the audience. Be as courteous to others as you would like them to be to you. Get your friends in on the fun. Form a group. There are many group songs and duets on our list. But remember, anytime you are on the stage and singing, it will count as a turn for you and if you have a single song in, it will be moved back in the pile so that others that have not been up as much will have an equal turn.

     2. Using foul language is not advisable. It may offend someone and we all know that we do not like to be offended. There are several songs on my list that have "colorful" words in them. We recommend that you do not select those songs until after midnight. Those with more sensitive ears should have gone home by then. Other than those few songs, foul language will not be tolerated. If you insist on using that kind of phraseology, be prepared to be cut off and lose your turn! If you return to the stage and repeat your actions, you will be denied the privilege to sing for the rest of the evening.

     3. Applause is greatly appreciated. It's not easy to get up in front of a bunch of strangers. So do not ignore their efforts. Yell, scream and clap for everyone just as you would want them to do for you. Booing is in very bad taste, even if you could do better, applaud the effort! You could inhibit someone from trying a song for fear of getting a bad response from the audience. If a disc skips...it is unavoidable..do not boo...someone just coming in could think you are showing dislike to the singer. Remember, when a bartender or waitress breaks something...everyone usually claps.....do the same if a disc skips or a singer is bad. We want everyone to have a great time! Also, don't forget dancing. You don't have to sit and just watch the show, enjoy yourself...dance.

     4. Do not abuse the equipment. YOU BREAK IT, YOU BOUGHT IT! Microphones and cords do break. So do not swing or drop them. Rock stars can afford to replace equipment every show...Karaoke hosts cannot! We will hold you personally responsible for any broken equipment due to your mishandling. So if you are not able to pay the price of new equipment...don't break it! The song lists are another large expense for the Karaoke host...so please do not write on, spill things on, take apart or remove a song list or any part of the song list.
